Dear Advisors and Chapter Presidents,
My name is Tom Lewandowski I am so proud to be serving as the 2013-2014 Wisconsin Student Nurses’ Association President. I began my service on the WSNA last year as the Breakthrough to Nursing Director and enjoyed my time on the board so much. I really wanted an opportunity to better develop my leadership skills and thought that serving in the President role would be the perfect opportunity to do so. I graduated this past May from the ADN Program at Western Technical College and am continuing on to receive my BSN through the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire distance learning program.
As we start another school year, there are a few exciting things I wish to share with you! This year we are pleased to resurrect the College of Chapter Boards. Being held on November 9, 2013, at Herzing University in Madison, this is a chance for all of your school’s SNA Officers and Advisors to get together to learn some valuable information that will help you grow your chapters. Included will be information about getting membership, fundraising, service projects and more! We will also have information about scholarships and awards available at convention, how to run for the WSNA Board of Directors, and of course, information about Convention 2014 being held in February at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center from February 7-9, 2014. At this meeting, we will unveil this year’s project theme and some exciting changes and improvements to convention, based on your ideas! We will also once again have a vast array of speakers and a large exhibit hall, not to mention the fun you will have after the day’s activities when we set you free to have fun at the water park!
Also included in this edition of the STAT, is the introductions to the Board of Directors. These are all nursing students, like you. Some of you may even know a member or two. I highly encourage you to reach out to these people for assistance. They have a wealth of knowledge that can assist your SNA, as well as assist you in your journey through nursing school. It is my goal, to make each and every one of your chapters the best it can be, so that we as a state can be the best we can be!
Please share this information with everyone in your Student Nurse Association, as this only gets sent to those who are paid members of the National Student Nurses Association. I highly encourage each and every one of you to make your time in nursing school the absolute best you can make it. It is this time that you will remember for the rest of your lives.
If I can be of any assistance to you throughout the school year, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at email@example.com .
