68th Annual WSNA Convention

August 31st, 2017

Hello everyone!  My name is Megan Zusy, I wanted to introduce you myself. I am so excited to be your current president of WSNA. I am currently a senior at Concordia University and I hope, God willing, will graduate in May of 2018. Last year I was the executive president of WSNA and helped to put on and run our annual convention. It was a great success and wonderful experience!  I am looking forward to what this year has in store for us all!

I hope you all enjoyed your summer. I had a wonderful summer, lots of traveling and enjoying the time off before starting school again. I hope that you are all well rested and excited to continue your education and pursuit of becoming a registered nurse. I know that I am for sure! I am so excited about this school year and what it is going to come! There are so many new and exciting things happening this year.

Our annual college of chapter board event is changing a bit. This year it will be held at UW Oshkosh for an over night board bonding experience. We want this to be a fun and exciting event! That will be on October 13th-14th. We have many fun things planned and we are excited for all of you to come and attend! Our goals this year is to increase the number of schools that attend so it benefits everyone more! This is such a great opportunity of networking with other schools, we highly encourage you to come. Every year we hear what a great resources this was and the number of ideas that were brought home to schools. Our goals is to make each school nursing association as efficient and well run as possible and by talking with other schools and bouncing ideas off of one another it has proven in the past to be a great success. I hope to see you all there and am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Please know that I want to help each and every one of you achieve your dreams and if there is anything I can do, do not hesitate to contact me. I am reachable through our wsna email at wisconsinsna@gmail.com

Hello Future Nurses,

This past year has been so busy! I have graduated nursing school in December, the holidays came and went and now it’s time to enter my next chapter.

I was pleased by the turnout of the second annual College of Chapter Boards held at Edgewood College in Madison on October 8th.  This one day informative event gave the attendees a larger insight into what they can do to help grow their boards, as well as valuable information about our upcoming Annual Convention.  A huge thanks goes out to Edgewood College for hosting this successful event.  I would also like to thank Potbelly’s Sandwiches for providing lunch for the attendees as well as my entire Board of Directors for all the hard work they put into making this event great.

Speaking of convention… the 68th Annual WSNA Convention will be held from February 3-5th, 2017 at our NEW LOCATION the Wilderness Resorts and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells.  There is so much interesting content we are planning for you and hope that you will come away from the Convention satisfied, relaxed and educated.

You can find convention information at WisconsinSNA.com. You are able to register right online! When you visit the website, visit the Convention section, and click on REGISTER NOW!.  It’s not too late! Registration is $75/members and $115/non-members, $65/advisors and $150/at the door for any attendees. NSNA members receive a $40 discount from Convention, so make sure to register there first and have your membership number ready when you register.  Also on our website, there is a School Chapter section where you can submit your events and have it added to our calendar.  You can also send in pictures that you may have taken, and we would love to display them as well.

We are excited to announce Nurse Kelley Johnson who will be our Keynote speaker on Friday night. She will be available for pictures and autographs. She will also be participating in Nursing Olympics with us! Please join me in welcoming her!

WSNA wants to be more involved in our individual school chapters.  If you would like to have a Board member make a field visit, there is a quick form on our website to do that.  We would love to be present at your events and will try to accommodate all your requests.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Annual Convention, and hopefully some of you are thinking about running for a Board of Director’s position.  Two days until convention!

Stay Warm!
